01 / REPORT

Report an extraction or presentation issue

Public reporting intake and response expectations.

The Independent Illinois Offense Code Reference project accepts correction reports at kirbyjosh28@gmail.com and via our contact page. The owner targets an initial response within 10 business days, but this is not an emergency or legal-support channel.

Reports should identify only the displayed offense code, source page, observed issue, and authoritative supporting source. Do not include names, plates, identifiers, case details, narratives, PII, or CJI.

  • • Structured Intake: Provide specific offense ID, source PDF page, and legislative citation.
  • • Zero CJI / PII: Never include arrestee names, vehicle plates, case reports, or narratives.

02 / REVIEW

Verify before changing the corpus

Multi-point provenance and cryptographic release locking.

Every proposed correction must be compared with the versioned source artifact and exact source page. Corpus changes require a documented content owner, independent review, test reconciliation, approval reference, release note, and new artifact checksum.

  • • Source Reconciliation: Re-verified directly against the official Illinois SOS PDF artifact.
  • • Cryptographic Release Lock: Requires updating the SHA-256 manifest and regression tests.

03 / SAFETY

Disable questionable content when necessary

Precautionary suppression and transparency.

A credible provenance, rights, affiliation, accuracy, privacy, accessibility, or security issue may require a record or the entire lookup to be marked review-due, superseded, or disabled. Questionable content should not remain available merely to preserve uptime.

  • • Precautionary Suppression: Disputed records are suppressed or flagged immediately upon verification.
  • • Status Transparency: Content status manifest updated with explicit rationale.

04 / SCOPE

Corrections do not update the law

Website presentation boundary vs. statutory enactment.

This process addresses the website’s extraction and presentation. It cannot amend the source publication, Illinois law, court rules, or agency policy. Questions about an external publication must be directed to its publisher.
